Pastor Johnny Witherspoon

Pastor Johnny was called to Cooper First Baptist Church in August of 2003. Pastor Johnny’s passion is preaching the powerful Word of God. He believes that life transformation happens when people are exposed to the clear preaching of the Word of God.

Pastor Johnny believes that when people respond to and embraces the teachings of the Word of God, they will experience life to the fullest. For this reason, Pastor Johnny’s preferred style of preaching is expository preaching; preaching verse by verse. He believes the proclamation of the Word of God should be bold, Biblical, and practical.

2 Timothy 3:17
“Every scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that have God’s approval. They equip God’s servants so they are completely prepared to do good things” (God’s Word)

Pastor Johnny married his lovely wife Kathy on December 24,1977. Pastor Johnny and Kathy have four grown children Shelley, Kelley, Tracy, and Sean. They also have four grandchildren John Daniel, Eli, Gavin and Asher.

The mission statement of Cooper FBC contains three core elements: Lead, Grow, Launch. These are more than single “catch words,” these truly represent our mission as a church. We are driven to lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are determined to use every means at every opportunity to reach every person in our areas of influence. Next we are very determined to Grow believers into passionate followers of Christ, completely devoted to Him. We strongly believe that we have no fulfilled our mission until we launch every passionate follower of Jesus Christ into ministry and missions.
